Folks – we’re not going to race today.
The weather looks grim up there. It’s always unpredictable, and it wouldn’t be unheard of in Colorado for the skies to clear. But…every reliable weather source (and we have some good ones) tells us that it’s going to turn to absolute poo (except poo with lightning) around 11am. We’ll have the entire field strung across the 10 Mile Range by then, above treeline with few options to get you back down.
If we all sit down here at the venue and the skies clear, we can mumble and grumble with and at each other. Which when you take enough steps back, is an enormous privilege. When all is said and done, we’ve mapped out every possibility to shorten, alter and come up with a different solution. We just don’t have one that keeps all of you safe. Placing your lives at risk just isn’t something I’m willing to do.
We’re here in the venue. Come say hi. Shimano will be open until 2pm and will also be at tomorrow’s start. The boys from HUNT Wheels are here for the duration. If you already dropped aid bags, please come grab them. We’re moving them to the tent.
This isn’t the day we all wanted or prepared for. But it IS the right call. I know that in my bones.
Thanks all. Go for a ride. Before it gets icky. Lots of choices. Stay low tho.
Mike
